George R. R. Martin must be a happy chap. Earlier this year his five-book epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire exploded in popularity, thanks to the acclaimed HBO adaptation of the first book, A Game of Thrones. With a second series and two more books in the pipeline, you might think the fiction had stretched its scaly dragon wings as far as they can go. However, French studio Cyanide has just released its own take on the franchise in the shape of a PC strategy game. Why not take a look at some gameplay movies from our time in Westeros?

As any fan of the fiction knows, when you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die. To ensure you experience the former, you must learn about the different units at your disposal. In the gameplay movie above, we highlight three of the key units: the envoy, spy, and noble lady.

If the aforementioned units aren't sufficiently violent for you, perhaps the assassin and the rogue will be more to your liking. Take a look at them in action in the movie above.

The game's Campaign mode is a highly structured affair. In it, you assume the role of important figures from the history of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. In the first chapter, you control Nymeria, the warrior queen of the Rhoynar as she makes land on the coast of Dorne for the first time. Take a look at the first five minutes in the above movie.

If you are a fan of the fiction, but don't fancy real-time strategy, this final movie is for you. It features an in-game flyover of The Seven Kingdoms. Enjoy and feel free to pretend you're a dragon (I did).
