Westwood Studios has announced that it will hold an open beta test of Command & Conquer Renegade, its upcoming action game based on the popular Command & Conquer real-time strategy games. The open beta test will include four multiplayer maps, 28 different characters, 23 different weapons, and 11 vehicles. Players will join one of two competing teams, GDI or Nod, and they will fight to destroy each other's base.

The beta test will consist of three one-week phases, each including 500 players. Sign-ups for the beta test will open on the official Renegade Web site at 12:01am PT on Wednesday, November 28, and last for 24 hours. Participants will be selected randomly from a pool of qualified entries, and they will be notified within three days of the end of the sign-up period.

Command & Conquer Renegade is scheduled for release by Electronic Arts in February 2002. For more information, take a look at our updated preview of the game.
