Amazon's adaptation of The Wheel of Time series premieres this Friday, meaning fans can finally see some of their favorite characters come to life for the first time. Actors Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney portray Moiraine and her Warder Lan--something that had been a dream for Henney--in the fantasy epic, who share a magical bond that grants them special abilities.

Speaking to the press about the upcoming show, Pike and Henney talked about their characters, and how they quickly bonded in real life because of a mishap with a sword while filming a pivotal scene.

"I use a real sword because the weight throws me off if I use a fake one," Henney admitted. "I slashed her hand and we went to the emergency room because we thought her hand was broken and thought we had to shut down production and so that was how we bonded."

Pike laughed off the incident and said in true Warder fashion, Henney was there at the hospital making sure she was okay. "I get to the hospital, and he's waiting for me at the hospital," said Pike. "True Warder right from the word go. We have a connection and you know, even when the shot is on me...and Daniel has a stunt double that rarely makes it on to set because he's so good, and it's not the same. It's about energy and the feeling is different."

Pike also talked about the scene that we see Moiraine channeling the One Power onscreen for the first time. It's been heavily used in promotion and is an important aspect of the show. Pike explained the difference between working with Henney on the scene and his stunt double and how she wanted to show off channeling.

"We knew this was an exciting moment that will also compel the urgency of our cause and it's our real first opportunity to see Moiraine and Lan working together within the incredible synchrony we know they have," she said. "It's also the first moment where we see real channeling. There is a scene earlier in the first episode with her warming up bathwater, but it's very slight. Here, it's out in the open and exponentially more forceful."

She continued on how this is Moiraine showing her real might. "I knew I wanted to make channeling my own, I suppose, but leave room for other women in the series to interpret it in their own way. I knew I had to do it how Robert Jordan described it as this power that's flooding your veins. I just thought that was so exciting and it would be a waste to not explore that physically."

Pike saw Henney's fight choreography as he had been there almost a month before she had arrived on set in Prague, and wanted to incorporate some of his movements into her own, creating this unique dance.

"Yeah, that's when it changed for me as well," said Henney. "For so long, we just had somebody standing in for Rosamund, but when we actually got the real thing and the layers she added really brought everything to life. I started to see how the movement would complement each other and it was actually quite easy once we started doing it."

Amazon's The Wheel of Time premieres on November 19. It will be available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. If you want to check out the books that started it all, they are available as audiobooks on Audible.
