Win Special Destiny Emblem by Beating Developers at Their Own Game [UPDATE]

The Sparrow Racing League Bungie Bounty event has ended.

Destiny's "Bungie Bounty" event, during which you can earn special prizes by beating the developer at its own game, returns tonight, December 22. Starting at 4 PM PST / 7 PM EST, Bungie developers will hop into Sparrow Racing League matches on Xbox One--beat them and you'll get a special emblem (below).

"If you can match against us, you'll be racing against some of the very same developers who created the Sparrow Racing League," Bungie said in an announcement. "This is your chance to beat us at our own game. If you can place in the top three, we'll deliver [the emblem above] to your Postmaster. Every race has a trophy."

The event runs for a period of two hours, ending at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST. Be on the lookout for Bungie community managers "DeeJ" and "Cozmo" on Xbox Live, as you'll need to match up with them for a shot to win. However, it may not be them actually behind the controller.

A Sparrow Racing League Bungie Bounty event was held last week on PlayStation 4. The Destiny racing mode's days are numbered, as it goes away on December 29.

Previous Bungie Bounty events saw the developer challenging the community at Crucible modes.

Silly me, I came for the update hoping it said no one showed up. Though even if that were the case Bungie gave gamespot enough advertising money they'd never report it.

@lnception: Hardly, but I imagine it is in it's twilight months. Since Bungie isn't going to make any more expansion for this game, Destiny's population will probably start to dwindle until holiday 2016, when the next full game is launched. At which point you'll have another super popular game to claim is totally dead.

@Mogan: I would have to disagree. The population is low sure, but there is a reason to this and its not just because better games came out, granted that did help. Big reason I have a feeling this game is dead is because of the model bungievision keeps trying to shove down our throats. They are taking advantage of new players, continuing to lie to the community, and they continue to be vague about everything they do and will do. Not to mention the amount of content cut from the game, all the things that should have been in Vanilla Destiny being cut out and sold for almost double the asking price of the original game...its absurd. The game is broken and they have no intention on fixing it. They cater to PvP when most of the fan base want more PvE updates. Why would anyone support this? My opinion? I think bungie is doing this on purpose, they want us to hate the game..its the only explanation I have besides them selling their soul to activision.

This game is dead. Accept its fate. I can assure you based on their track record, Destiny 2 will not meet the expected sales target. People will know how bad the got phucked in the past and wont allow it to happen. Please dont buy this game and please stop supporting it.

@fig56: Really? Ok, so they didn't cut content from the original game. Crap I think your right, I was never able to glitch into areas that were done already and were complete. Nope your right, I didnt get to go into crotas end months before TDB was released. Yeah dude most of the DLC was made after Destiny was shipped, and it wasnt on the disc. They cater more to PvE than PvP, They love to rebalance weapons based on PvE stats. Oh and they are always telling you the truth, yeah, especially when it comes to nerfs and buffs for weapons. The population on the game is thriving right now, and all network issues have been fixed. OH YEAH, they aren't trying to take advantage of new players at all, no your right. Your right, they are only selling that $30 25 level boost so the new players wont have to grind even though they can get there in a day. Oh yeah, microtransactions are only for emotes, not for that SRL yeah dude your right. My bad man, I'm sorry. I truly am, I didn't realize i wasn't playing the same Destiny that the entire fucking planet has been playing. No your right on this one. personally i was essentially done with destiny about a year ago lol.

the first few months were pretty fun, sep to jan or so, friends kept me playing a bit longer than i even wanted to back then but even they can't carry you through the same repetitive crap time an time again.

after down below or whatever the first expansion the game got extremely boring, wolves expansion was generally trash.

not even bothering with anything else unless what i see from destiny 2 blows me away then i might check it out, but even that is highly unlikely.

@lnception: Despite Destiny being real content light at launch, The Taken King still sold gang busters, and was significantly better received by players and critics. And Bungie has been pretty straight up about what's going on in Year 2. They said no new expansions, just new events funded by the addition of microtransactions. That's probably not going to keep the player base high, but this game doesn't change a monthly fee, so who cares?

I have no doubt that E3 2016 will have a pretty big Destiny presence, and the next game will sell very well thanks to the popularity of the first and Activision's massive hype machine. We see it happen every year with Call of Duty.

If Destiny 2 is good, I'll buy it. I liked the original, liked TTK even more, and I've more than got my money's worth so I'm excited for the next installment.

Anyway, they've said there wont be any new expansions for Year 2, just events of various sizes. If you want more story content I'll bet you're waiting until next holiday and Destiny 2.

@macaque12: If you've never played/bought the game before it's worth the money for The Taken King LE, for everyone who bought the game day 1 it was a pile of shit year long beta we had to pay $135 to get the full package.

@macaque12: Don't worry about the DLC; if you buy The Taken King Legendary Edition now, you'll get everything by default for the cost of the game. I only recommend getting Destiny if you've got/can make friends to play it with. Destiny with at least one other person is my GotY for sure. Destiny played alone probably probably isn't top ten.

@suicidesn0wman: Ideally, sure. But finding a group for the raid isn't all that difficult, since that's what everyone is looking for a group for. Finding a buddy you enjoy playing the rest of the game with is a lot harder if you don't have a friend who plays.

@macaque12: it's a decent enough game. It's on sale on the PS store for 39.59. It comes with all the previous expansions (make sure it's the legendary edition).

Head to YouTube watch some gameplay videos and decide if it's for you. The internet hype and anti-hype train might deter you from picking up a game you may actually enjoy.

I do believe "their own game" is getting you to play this shitty game for more than 5 minutes in the first place. So, the very act of going online to play against them to try to "beat them at their own game" means you've lost.
