Now Playing: Gwent Standalone Game Reveal at E3 2016

The standalone version of Gwent was rumored earlier this month, and CD Projekt Red even put up a massive poster in LA for it.

Speaking on Microsoft's stage today, a CD Projekt Red developer said the team received "thousands" of emails asking for a standalone version of Gwent. The game, which is officially called Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, has been in the works for the past year.

It includes a "full-blown" multiplayer experience, featuring cross-play between console and PC. There is also a "monumental" single-player campaign, the developer said.

Additionally, while Gwent's core mechanics will remain intact for the new console/PC edition, the visuals have been redesigned "almost completely."
