Wolfenstein, Quake III tournaments announced

The upcoming QuakeCon 2002 action game convention will host two tournaments featuring a total of more than $100,000 in cash prizes. The tournaments, both sponsored by ATI, include a Return to Castle Wolfenstein team tournament and a Quake III Arena deathmatch tournament.

The Return to Castle Wolfenstein team tournament will begin on June 17 with 64 teams competing in qualifying rounds for the chance to advance to the double-elimination tournament at QuakeCon. The competition features $60,000 in cash prizes, including a $25,000 grand prize. Registration for the tournament is on a first come, first served basis, and it will begin at 10pm ET on June 10 and conclude at 3pm ET on June 15. The Quake III Arena tournament is officially sanctioned by id Software, the studio that created the popular multiplayer action game. It will begin on Thursday, August 15, with 256 players competing in deathmatch games for a total of $40,000 in prizes, including a $20,000 grand prize. Registration for the tournament is on a first come, first served basis, and it will begin at 10pm ET on June 14 at QuakeCon.org.
