Wrestling Promotion MLW Announces Action Figure Deal To Bring Back WCW-Era Toys
The wrestling promotion is teaming with Power Town and their revitalized Galoob brand to bring fans retro-style figures of the MLW roster.
Toy collectors will tell you that wrestling action figures have come back significantly over the last few years. From huge names like Mattel offering collectors timed exclusives for its WWE line, to the Major Wrestling Podcast teaming with Super7 for deluxe toys, and even launching their own line of bendable figures featuring legends and independent stars. Now, MLW--Major League Wrestling--is starting up again in the toy game, collaborating with Power Town through the revitalized Galoob brand.
Wrestling fans might remember Galoob for their 1990s early WCW figures. Power Town has brought that brand back with a multi-year deal to bring MLW figures that will feature the same iconic style of posed action figures that fans grew up with and have been huge collector's items in their own right.
The company has told GameSpot that this line will be the "biggest offering" of the MLW roster ever. While we don't have a full roster list available for the first wave, but potentials include everyone from tag teams like CONTRA Unit and the Rogue Horsemen, to stars like Matt Riddle and even famous CMLL luchadores will soon get their chance to be immortalized in plastic. This line will be a who’s who from the arenas of MLW.
Since the ink is still drying on the deal, there are no mock-ups yet, but the figures will arrive in 2025.
MLW's former collaboration with Boss Fight Studios caused a stir with its first two waves of figures featuring the likes of Killer Kross--Karrion Kross in WWE, and Jacob Fatu with his first action figure ever. Original releases have been sought after by collectors, but you can find limited reissues through online stores like Big Bad Toy Store.
