WWE 2K14 preorders get Ultimate Warrior

Playable character will be exclusive to those who preorder the fighting game for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

2K today announced that Ultimate Warrior will be a preorder bonus for WWE 2K14. The playable character will be exclusive to those who reserve a copy of the fighting game for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 from participating retailers.

"It was my good fortune to be his creator and performer, and I am humbled by all those fans who've not only kept his legacy alive, but deepened it over time," Warrior said in a statement.

Ultimate Warrior made his WWE debut in 1987 and is known for his ring entrance and personality, among other traits.

"Fans love him, opponents fear him, and everyone can agree that he's one of the most iconic Legends in WWE history," said 2K senior director of marketing Chris Snyder in a statement.

WWE 2K14 launches October 29 in North America and November 1 internationally.

2K parent company Take-Two Interactive acquired the World Wrestling Entertainment license for video games earlier this year following THQ's bankruptcy. The multiyear licensing agreement will see WWE games continue to be developed by Yuke's.

@ryadings I still remember watching it SCRAMBLED on tv with a buddy. We couldn't really see it, but we could hear the commentary. Hogan leg drop, pin count 1, 2, 3... Hogan won again. Ah crap. Ultimate Warrior is NOT part of WWE history.

Back in '87, the WWE didn't even exist.

As we know it today the WWE was formed by a merging of the two biggest (and the only 2 relevant) Wrestleing entertainemnt groups; The WWF (World Wrestling Federation) and the WCW (Wordlwide Champsionship Wrestling)

Of which, The Ultimate Warrior was LOOOOOOONG gone by then.

...I just realised I know this much and am commenting on a wrestling article.

I am ashamed of myself for knowing so much about this piss-poor excuse for a sport.

@VenkmanPHD You should be ashamed for claiming to know so much about sports entertainment. The Warrior is part of the WWE history. That is like saying Sid Vicious and Papa Shango aren't. And it isn't a sport btw. I grew up loving this stuff. Now, not so much. And like others have said, they got sued by the World Wildlife Fund, so they changed the name.

The WWF purchased WCW in 2001. It remained being called WWF until a little over a year later when it was told to change its name by a court of law after it lost the case against World Wildlife Fund.

Just because the name changed does not mean the company changed. Wrestlers from the 80's are part of the WWE's past

That was the time where i was watching Wrestling.
Hogan,The Snake,Rick Martell(before The Model),Mr.Perfect.

If i still were interested in Wrestling,the Ultimate Warrior chara would be a reason to preorder the game.

I don't know I have to admit I had no interest in this game UNTIL they mentioned that the Ultimate Warrior would been in the game as a pre-order bonus. I've been wanting to play with the Ultimate Warrior since this series's inception. I also admit that if The Warrior was just an unlockable character and not a pre-order bonus I'd probably would have just waited and bought this game used later but now I'm considering pre-ordering it So I'm sure they knew what they were doing when they made him a pre-order bonus.

@koospetoors @Marky360 @JustPlainLucas Couldn't agree more. The worst is when they have DLC for different costumes and the such. No I won't pay a "small" amount extra for something so trivial after paying £50 for a game.

And what about the games like first person shooters that give you extra weapons... just because I don't preorder (or even in some cases complete a demo of a completely different game) I can't get something designed for the game I'm buying? Something got messed up along the way here.

What happen to great gameplay and a deep create-a-player mode being the selling points for wrestling games? I remember when wrestling games were must haves back on Nintendo 64, and maybe the first Day of Reckoning on Gamecube. Oh well.
