X2: The Khaak Threat at ECTS
Egosoft will demonstrate its upcoming sequel to the space sim X: Beyond the Frontier at the game convention next month in London.
German game developer Egosoft has announced that it will be demonstrating its upcoming space simulation, X2: The Khaak Threat, at the ECTS game convention next month in London. The game is the sequel to 1999's X: Beyond the Frontier, which puts players at the helm of an advanced spaceship that somehow ends up in remote alien territory. The game focuses on exploration and trade, but it also features combat. As the game progresses, players will earn credits by buying and selling goods, and they can then purchase upgrades to their spaceship.
The developer has released the first screenshot from the game, which depicts a fleet of detailed 3D spacecraft in the midst of an asteroid field. We'll have more information about the upcoming sequel after ECTS begins on September 2.
No publisher or official release date for X2 has been announced. For more information, take a look at our full review of X: Beyond the Frontier .
