Xbox 360 - Best Games of 2014 Nominees

Though a new generation of consoles dominated much of discussion around games in 2014, it was still a great year for last-gen platforms, Xbox 360 included. Perhaps the biggest Microsoft exclusive of the year, Titanfall, played wonderfully on the lesser Xbox, and a lot of other games that hit the latest and greatest consoles made a commendable showing on Microsoft's nine-year-old system, even if they weren't as pretty as their more advanced siblings. Sure, everyone prefers games with better graphics, but if you still aren't ready to make the jump to a new generation, you aren't necessarily missing out on the best games.

Two cross-generational games made our short list, including Dragon Age: Inquisition, Bioware's epic role-playing game with a massive world, and Hideo Kojima's appetizer to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes. There's no doubt that these games look better on current-gen consoles, but they still offer great experiences on Xbox 360. Rounding out our list of nominees is the hilarious RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth from Obsidian Entertainment, and the decidedly less cheerful and funny Dark Souls II, which strips away your dignity and confidence with unforgiving challenges aplenty. 2014 may have been the year that current-gen games stole the show, but the Xbox 360 proved that there's still life left in the previous generation of consoles.
