Xbox 720 launching in November at $500 - Report

So this is set in stone? This always online rubbish? Without an Internet Connection my system won't FUNCTION.

If I lose connection for any reason, mainly due to the fact that I live in a geographic location that hasn't a top notch ISP and is quite shoddy and overpriced by the common standard, then I'm boned and my system will stop letting me play whatever game I bought to play on it.

I'll buy it on launch day because I've the means to do it and give it an honest to goodness trial run until the New Year, if I'm hampered by my connection and the restrictions from not having this thing online all the time to function as mentioned I'm selling it and sticking with my Ps4 (Of which I'll buy on launch as well) and take my next gen business over to Sony exclusively.

Only thing that interests me is the small cheap 360. Maybe the soldering will finally be up to code, and it'll be worth spending a bit to posthumously play Lost Odyssey and Magna Carta 2.

if this always online is true (which would be just plain retarded) then it's just a simple yes and no answer definatly sony and I have over a 71,000 achievement score but I would say bye to it so fast if this is true. besides I think sony has better singleplayer exclusives anyway. And COD is completely irrelevent at this point which I absolutely hate that franchise and gears is starting to lose it's luster so all the have is Halo which is a good series but it's just not enough for all of sony's exclusives. we'll wait and see though for may 21'st but if it's true they just commited marketing suicide.

I forgot about that Xbox live Gold subscription.

FYI, not a Sony fanboy. I own a PS3 slim ver. 1,PS2,PS1,Xbox360(which was repaired due to RROD 1st release),Xbox,Wii,Dreamcast ,N64,Saturn,3DS,PSP and GBA with backlight

Always online may not sound great - but i always sign into live whether i'm mp online gaming or not - so doesnt bother me.

I just posted in the Witcher 3 news comments about the always online thing, to my understanding The Witcher 3 will not feature "always online" so that brings 2 possible outcomes for the next xbox:

1. The Witcher 3 is not on the the Next Xbox

2. The next Xbox is not "always online"

if its always online i will not purchase, but honestly i think the witcher 3 news kinda kills this rumor does it not?

Look...we bitch about the stupidity of Microsoft requiring a constant internet connection to use their new system. It's definitely something worth bitching about, don't get me wrong, but the amount of people who see the bullshit in that design won't be enough to make a dent in Xbox 720 sales if all of us boycott the system. I do hope the system suffers from extremely poor sales and that when Microsoft does industry research on why their system sucks they will see that it's the required internet connection and release a different version of the system that won't require it, which is why I'm going to wait a long while after the release of the next gen systems before I pull the trigger on either - IF I pull the trigger too!

This concept is similar to MOST people who bitch about the price of gas, yet have not changed their driving habits at all.

The $300 SKU will end up costing the consumer $540 in the end, because of the two year Live gold commitment.

But it's not like those who buy the $500 SKU will get free Live gold subscriptions. And if you need a gold account to play online, then the $500 model will end up costing many more.

From my understanding, xbox 720 must be connected to the internet to function, but DRM is left up to the developers. What does this mean? DRM for all EA games, and Call of Dutys lol. Either way it all sucks if its true. Imagine gamestop having an announcement saying they no longer accept games made by EA because their all DRM, but you can trade them in on ps4. Im saying EA because lets face it, EA is getting to be just as greedy as Micro$oft. Microsoft no longer cares about games, all they care about is money, and pointless apps. Im just waiting for EA to announce that you have to have a $20 season pass to even load their games. Real core gamers know the ps4 is the way to go next gen.
