Microsoft's new console, Project Scorpio, is coming this holiday. It sounds like the company isn't going to miss that window, as Xbox boss Phil Spencer has now assured fans that the console's schedule "looks very good."

Asked on Twitter if there was a change to the Scorpio's release date, Spencer said, "[the] schedule looks very good right now, no issues."

This is no big surprise, as Spencer said last October that Scorpio was "a little ahead of plan" as it relates to hardware timelines.

Microsoft has yet to announce an official release date for Scorpio, though we do know it's coming this holiday. We've gotten a lot of new info about the mega-powerful console in recent weeks, as the console's devkit was shown off and the visual improvements highlighted in a new image. Additionally, we've learned how the console will make Xbox One and Xbox 360 games look better.

Looking ahead, Microsoft will surely discuss Project Scorpio at E3, if not sooner. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

On the other side of the fence, there was a recent report about how Sony might be planning to launch a next-generation PlayStation console in 2018.
