Xbox E3 2017 Press Conference Runs Longer Than Usual

The E3 2017 Xbox press briefing will last more than 90 minutes.

This year's Xbox E3 press conference will run longer than usual. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has revealed on Twitter that the show will be more than 90 minutes in length. According to him, this is to make room for all of the games that the company hoped to showcase, though it's unclear exactly how much of the show will be dedicated to games and not hardware.

"Had some games that just didn't want to leave out to hit the time, so made a call to just run a little long," Spencer said. He didn't indicate if these games were exclusives or what portion of these presentations would be dedicated to Scorpio.

Microsoft is expected to officially announce the name, price, and release date for Project Scorpio during the briefing. In addition to that, there will of course be game announcements and demos.

Meanwhile, Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra is traveling to Los Angeles for E3 and he tweeted a picture of the Xbox Scorpio chip he's apparently carrying with him.

The length of this year's event isn't the only thing that's new for Microsoft, as the show is now taking place on the Sunday before E3 week instead of Monday. The event kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, and we now know it will run until after 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET.

@toonarmy20: I think you mean MS has no games, but its ok, we all have our favorite things to play on, PC will always have the both of both worlds thow, A shame, PlayStation has the new games, and MS will have the hardware, Now if we could just get both of those things on one console. O well

@indigoj: now it's just sad. There are more comments in Xbox article's by Sony fan's than Sony fan's in Sony games or E3 article's. Why do they even care? After 3 years even I would have gotten bored and moved on. I'm with Xbox I love seeing my old 360 titles even if I don't play all of them(most of us by now have external drives)

Enjoy gaming people...Personally I enjoy games from Nintendo, Sony, and even Xbox??

Should be more like Sony and have some dude come on stage and announce he's starting up a kickstarter campaign because he doesn't have the money to make a game. That's much more interesting.

Imagine if xbox games got this much press. The best things about xbox have been the One S and Scorpio recently but you rarely hear anything about their upcoming exclusive GAMES.

Notice they took the 4K badge off the chip? Lol they really are a bunch of clowns. I'm guessing a huge part of their show will be talking about how "powerful" the Scorpio is and the rest will be showing trailers for multi- plats.

Why not spend time In Sony article's talking about Ps4 pro like you were last Summer. Xbox knows your PS4 is the best console ever. Well I had more fun with Atari 2600 in 1980 and Nintendo's NES in 1986! Actual arcades back in the day were more fun. You are no fun I suppose

@pumpkinnuggets: It's worse once you actually start reading the article. One sentence says "According to him, this is to make room for all of the games that the company hoped to showcase". So Microsoft has already stopped hoping to be able to showcase all their games? Or are they still hoping to showcase them all?

I own a ps4 and not an xbox but this isnt good news for sony I hope they bring out some good game lineups. You know the scorpio will demolish it in power but if it doesnt have games its no contest. But if this goes longer for games then it seems like they have something up the sleeve. curious to see what games they are better not be a halo, fable or gears they need something new and not just shooters or racers or multi plat sport games

@Archangel2222: sony is dominating the market in every possible way, hardly think that because MS e3 might run for like, 100 minutes instead of 90, is any reason for Sony to start worrying. Also, sony has always ran past their time in the past
