"Great time to be a gamer."

Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra has spoken out to congratulate Nintendo on its Switch announcements last night. Writing on Twitter, Ybarra said the Nintendo event was "fun and exciting."

He went on to say: "Great time to be a gamer. Congrats Nintendo of America and [worldwide] teams." Ybarra used the hashtags #gaming and #excited in his tweet.

This isn't the first time a Microsoft higher-up has spoken positively about Nintendo, the competition. Following the Switch's unveiling in October, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said, "I'm always impressed with their ability to state a bold vision and build a product that delivers on that vision."

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console that you can play at home or on the go. The system launches on March 3, priced at $300. We learned during the event last night that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a launch title, while a new Mario game, Super Mario Odyssey, is coming out this holiday.
