Xbox Games With Gold For January 2022 Announced

Radiant Silvergun and Space Invaders Infinity Gene will both be free for subscribers.

Microsoft has revealed the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for January 2022, and they include a few classic shoot-'em-up games that should have retro arcade enthusiasts excited. NeuroVoider, Aground, Radiant Silvergun, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene are all free in January, with two available beginning on January 1 and the other two unlocking on January 16.

Xbox Games With Gold Free Games For January 2022

NeuroVoider (January 1-31)
Aground (January 16-February 15)
Radiant Silvergun (January 1-15)
Space Invaders Infinity Gene (January 16-31)

The games are available with both an Xbox Live Gold subscription and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, with the first two being Xbox One games and the latter two being Xbox 360 games--all will work on Xbox Series X|S, as well. Game Pass continues to grow, and it will be getting future games like Sniper Elite 5 on launch day. You can get some of December's free games now before they expire, as well, including Tropico 5 and The Escapists 2.

Radiant Silvergun is one of Treasure's most acclaimed shooters, first launching in arcades and on the Sega Saturn and serving as the predecessor to Ikaruga. Space Invaders Infinity Gene, meanwhile, is a cerebral take on the series that's comparable to something like Tetris Effect.

How many people in here don't know good games with they see them?

Raident Silvergun is one of the best Bullet hell shoot em ups ever made. It's practically hailed as a masterpiece and is pretty sought after on the Saturn!

If you are saying this is bad month you are crazy.

Is anyone else having problems downloading EA sports game on Xbox series X. I can't download Fifa or Madden even thought I'm paying for gold. Same error. Yes, I'm too lazy to deal with it by contacting support, but why should I have to? I can just buy em on PS5 on sale and have them there.

I will say my X box series X doesn't make as much noise as my PS5 (thought I don't have it positioned right - it's in a slot in a book case). But the PS5 games kick it's but already. Halo is okay, Forza 5 is good if a little annoying. Ratchet and Clank are way better as was Demon Souls and Miles Morales.

Halo Infinite trumps any playstation exclusive when it comes to gameplay. Not just that, the amount of game modes in Halo makes ps exclusives look bare bones in comparison. (granted, Infinite has still to add modes that are normally there from release in a Halo game)

Most ps exclusives don’t even have multiplayer and the replayability of their single player stories is almost nonexistent. Nowhere near as good as what Halo offers hence they are ‘one n dones.’

And Infinites combat has evolved (pun intended) the tried and true golden triangle gameplay further which adds to the replay ability even more.

sony really have never had an answer for Halo. Kill zone and Resistance were supposed to be the Halo Killers but turned out to be Halo fodder.

Kinda deuchey that you can only access GMG games if you are still sub'd..

Miscrosoft should do something different with it.

ive been thinkin gabout how cool that would be for any game or situation..

@sippio: Not sure what's douchey about being able to access a ton of free games with your subscription. Considering I have over 500 digital games at my fingertips and around 20-25% of those were free with my subscription, and I regularly play some games multiplayer with friends, I have no problem maintaining my subscription at a whopping ~$55 per year. Between the 4 free games per month and the digital sales where I regularly snag games for 30-80% off of retail, a $55 subscription is nothing.

I enjoyed Ikaruga even though it routinely destroyed me. Maybe Radiant Silvergun will be slightly more merciful.

It's been clear for a very long time now that Microsoft puts it efforts into Gamepass, and nothing into Games With Gold.

This selection is just another confirmation of that.

Crapola. But we got Halo so there's that. I have issues with my X Box Series X. Compared to PS5 and its rest mode, it downloads like crap. I live in China and these days my internet sucks (a lot of people work remotely and I live in a 30 story building), but it took 2 days to download Fifa 21 and you have to kind of baby sit it.

@dmblum1799: Weird -- sounds like classic TCP Window stacking/syncing, where a bunch of connections behind a bottleneck end up backing off at roughly the same intervals, instead of truly random backoffs. So you get synced "waves" of saturation, which to the user feels like starts and stops.

@redviperofdorne: Why would you expect something like that? GWG has been bad for awhile now. Your getting all your goodness with gamepass and that's where all of their effort has been and where it will continue to be moving forward.

Ones would think a company would end a year with a bang or start a new year one...sigh.

The games are still decend but they are little games or old or both.

PS-If you are not interested in NeuroVoider as a game ,download it just for the soundtrack

@thecupidstunts: Problem with Gamepass is that unless said game is a Microsoft studio game, You're bound to lose it for free-ish eventually.

At least GWG are yours to play for as long as you're subbed.
