Xbox Gets Codemasters
Codemasters joins the growing ranks of Xbox developers and publishers.
Codemasters announced today that it has made a firm commitment to develop and publish games for Microsoft's Xbox video game console. Codemasters' first Xbox games are scheduled for release in the winter of 2001 to coincide with the launch of Xbox, and they will include several titles that concentrate on the Xbox's online capabilities.
"We are very proud to be working with Microsoft on key titles for the Xbox, extending our heritage of gaming excellence to this dynamic new gaming platform," said John Hemingway, Codemasters' development director. "With the Xbox details announced to date, Microsoft is proving its ability to develop hardware that inspires. Similarly, Codemasters is committed to creating software that will engage and excite the console's consumers."
Codemasters currently owns Jarrett and Labonte Stock Car Racing, Colin McRae Rally, and FoxKids.com Micro Maniacs Racing, but it is also developing several completely original Xbox titles as well.
