Dead Island is free from Feb. 1-15, while Toy Soldiers: Cold War will be free from Feb. 16-28.
Microsoft has announced February 2014's two free games for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox 360.
Starting today, Feb. 1, developer Techland's first-person zombie action game Dead Island (normally $20) will be free. Then, from Feb. 16, subscribers can download action strategy game Toy Soldiers: Cold War (normally $15) for free.
The games are offered as part of Microsoft's Xbox 360 "Games with Gold" program that gives subscribers two free games to keep per month. New titles are available on the 1st and 16th of every month. An Xbox Live Gold subscription is $10/month or $60/year. The promotion is not available on Xbox One.
By comparison, the free games offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers in February are Outlast on the PlayStation 4, Payday 2, Metro: Last Light, and Remember Me on PlayStation 3, and Street Fighter X Tekken and ModNation Racers: Road Trip on the PS Vita. A 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus costs $49.99.
