Xbox One Adds 19 New Original Xbox Backwards Compatible Games This Month

More classics to play on your Xbox One.

As teased, Microsoft revealed a bunch of new original Xbox games that will soon be backwards compatible with Xbox One. During the latest episode of Inside Xbox, the company announced that 19 original Xbox titles will be playable on the current-gen console this month, including some of the platform's most beloved releases.

The next round of backwards compatible titles will be divided up into two batches, the first of which will arrive next week, on April 17. That batch includes the acclaimed open-world RPG The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (which was one of the new BC games leaked ahead of the broadcast), as well as the Conker's Bad Fur Day remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded; BioWare's martial arts RPG, Jade Empire; the time-bending platformer Blinx: The Time Sweeper; and Sega's rail shooter, Panzer Dragoon Orta.

Now Playing: Most Anticipated Exclusive Games Coming To Xbox One In 2018

The second batch of BC games arrives the following week, on April 26. It consists of Destroy All Humans, MX Unleashed, Full Spectrum Warrior, and an assortment of Star Wars titles, including Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the original Battlefront and Battlefront II, Republic Commando, Jedi Starfighter, and Knights of the Old Republic II. You can take a look at the full list of upcoming BC games below.

Like all other backwards compatible games, you'll be able to pop their original disc into your Xbox One and begin playing once they're added to the BC catalog. You'll also be able to download a digital copy of the aforementioned games from the Xbox Store.

In addition to the new backwards compatible titles, Microsoft announced a handful of Xbox 360 games will receive Xbox One X enhancements via updates today, April 10. Those include the original Red Dead Redemption, Gears of War 2, Portal 2, and Sonic Generations, which is now playable for the first time on Xbox One.

Oh Com'on MS you know we want them.. Please please, please bring back 1983 Manic Miner, 1982 Rocky's boots and 1986 Space Quest you know we'll drop 500 USD/EUR on an X to play those.

Nice effort, MS. Hoping for more 360 BC like Magna Carta 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, etc. Also fingers crossed for Kung Fu Chaos and Galleon for original XB. A guy can only hope.

Also...Stubbs the Zombie...people forgot about that game for some reason.

Full Spectrum Warrior was a great, innovative console game back then. For some reason it died off after 2 games.

But WHERE is MechAssault?!! It was a first party game and the studio isn't even around anymore. So what's the hold up? Blinx: Time Sweeper? C'mon. Crimson Skies and MechAssault were arguably some of the best games on the OG Xbox, along with Brute Force.

If they just did the first party games I'd be happy. That's when MS still had all those awesome studios that Don Mattrick decided to close. I swear he was working for the competition to cripple the Xbox line. That's the only reason to do something so stupid like that.

Mercenaries is the game I've been waiting to play. Hopefully it doesn't have the freezing issues that the xbox360 backwards compatibility had. It was unplayable on there.

I can't wait to play these games man it's gonna be awesome it's been so long since I played Jade Empire and Breakdown oh my goodness can't wait to get those games and then theres also Mercenaries which I still own so it's gonna be awesome popping that in there and playing it again.

Do these games scale? No idea why Microsoft doesn't refix the textures on some games assets, and so on with out changing the models, like in conquers bad fire day.

No its not 4K but it does look to be at least 1080p it looks a lot better than it did originally. Only the cinematic cutscenes run at the original resolution which looks to be 480i. You can tell they look a bit rougher then the rest of the golf which looks very smooth.

i don't want classics... i want new IPs and to see a future to Xbox as it currently stands.

I love my Xbox but I'm tired of seeing Playstation getting all these amazing exclusives (like God of War) and Xbox getting games from 10 years ago. (and Sea of Thieves was a flop so don't tell me we have a great exclusive there)

E3 will be my trigger this year whether I drop Xbox altogether or invest in an Xbox X. I have a 4K TV begging to use one but don't want to commit yet.

Bring back a new revamped Fable please :)

@solidsolo: WHAT? No it does not, a new developer on the same IP does not make a new one. By your "logic" Microsoft would have many new IPs this generation then - Killer Instinct and Gears of War among them. I'd say nice try, but it wasn't - that has to be the lamest justification I have seen in quite a while, and I am a regular reader here so that says a lot! Just give it up dude, you already made yourself look foolish and now just digging a bigger hole.

@dorog1995: Yup, sure did. Better still, since it was a System Link supported game you can still play online using IP tunneling software such as Xlink Kai to still play online with it. I still have a gut feeling that at E3 Phil will announce online play returning for original Xbox titles, at least running on the One.

@dorog1995: Well it has been a LONG time since I played it, but I remember finding it enjoyable. And let's be real about Battlefront II - it did NOT have a true campaign, it was playing the game maps tied loosely together by cutscenes. It just irks me so much these people who claim that it had a campaign while bashing the recent titles, yet their nostalgia is blinding them from the truth of the matter. This game has an actual story/campaign mode and is decent.

The game is mostly vehicular play (loved playing with that Big Wheel) other that a couple of levels where you play as Anakin or Mace Windu. I'd recommend it if you can find it cheap, which I do not think would be an issue. Only the Xbox version had online or LAN play - Gamecube only supported online play for Phantasy Star Online and I think SONY was just barely dipping their toes into online play at that time. Those versions you are limited to 2 player split screen, Xbox supported 4 player split screen.

What an amazing list!! Of course there is still a bunch more that I want but hopefully Dead Or Alive 3, DOA Extreme, Sonic Heroes, Forza 1 and even Splinter Cell Double Agent makes that list too. I remember the latter being totally different from the 360 version and would be amazing to play it in high res!
