Xbox One Adds New Backwards Compatible Game

Microsoft continues its steady rollout of backwards compatible games for Xbox One. Major Nelson announced on Twitter that one new Xbox 360 title is now playable on the current-gen console, and it's a popular one: Burnout Revenge.

Originally released on Xbox and PS2 in 2005, Revenge expanded on the series by introducing new mechanics like traffic-checking and the Traffic Attack mode. The Xbox 360 port, which was released the following year, is the one to receive backwards compatibility and includes a handful of additional features over the original version.

Burnout Revenge was very well received by critics on its initial release. GameSpot awarded it a 9.1/10 in our original Burnout Revenge review and said, "Burnout Revenge might not be the revolution that Burnout 3 was, but in the end, it changes more than enough to make it feel like a very different game. It's a technical marvel, but more importantly than that, it's one of the most exciting racing games ever made."

If you own a 360 copy of Burnout Revenge, you can pop that into your Xbox One and begin playing. The game is also available purchase from the Xbox Store. You can download a digital copy of the title for US $10 / £10 / AU $14.95.

Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature has proven to be very popular, and Microsoft has been expanding it at a steady rate. Last week, the company added two new 360 titles to the BC catalog: Saints Row 2 and Dragon Age II. Those arrived shortly after the second wave of original Xbox BC games, which included Jade Empire, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Conker: Live & Reloaded.
