Xbox One and PS4 versions of Mass Effect Trilogy discussed at BioWare

Because Garrus is too awesome to not be on the latest home consoles, obviously.

BioWare has said that it has had discussions about bringing a version of the original Mass Effect trilogy to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

BioWare and EA released a Mass Effect trilogy bundle on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2012, with the pack containing Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and various DLC bits and bobs.

Over the weekend, BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn responded to a question on Twitter asking about bringing the original games to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

"We have discussed that internally," he said. "If we can put solid plans together we'll share. Great to hear you're keen."

BioWare has previously confirmed that it is working on a Mass Effect 4, presumably for the current crop of consoles, but has not announced much about the title other than it will not feature Shepard in a lead role.

"I can't get into details, but the idea is that we have agreed to tell a story [in Mass Effect 4] that doesn't relate necessarily to any of the Shepard events at all, whatsoever," said lead writer Mac Walters last year.

The original Mass Effect team at BioWare's Edmonton studio are now working on a brand new IP, with BioWare Montreal inheriting Mass Effect 4 duties.

Would love to play all 3 on PC again re-mastered with better graphics and "Game Pad" PC support.

in mass effect series the next logical step would be inter galactic voyage with new characters and new species

It's sad that if this trilogy is "released" to next gen platforms, they would be the only truly worthy games to be released so far in either console's line-up. LOL.

Say hello to the future of console gaming, Why implement BC into your consoles, when you can just churn out "HD" Editions of games that are already in HD to begin with?

I can see it now.

The Original Mass Effect 3 Trilogy: HD Collection

Metal Gear Solid 4 HD Edition

You get the idea.

I just started replaying the trilogy for the first time since mid 2012. Feros, here I come.

Having said that, it's a good idea, but should not be focused on at the expense of new ME games.

In total honesty I would rather have an HD remake of the trilogy than anything "new" in the universe

<< LINK REMOVED >> Why? Why wouldent you want to see what happens in the universe after the war with the reapers? How can you not even be remotely curious as to what Bioware is planning to write that is a good enough reason to go back and explore the universe. You just seem like the typical jaded gamer who complains to much about every game that comes out.

Gosh I've already played these games to absolutely death multiple times. It would need something new added, like a massive graphics overhaul (I know that's shallow, but I'd probably consider getting it if they did this).

If they up the graphics substantially, include all the games together with their DLC, and bring the multiplayer into the next gen I would get it. Or mainly just because next gen Garrus would indeed be awesome.

<< LINK REMOVED >> The ending is not better than RDR...however.

The EC ending for ME3 is great...the ending fits in with all the themes of the series, and with the Catalyst fleshed out, he embodies the conflict that is the foundation of the series.

It also subverts, averts, and even inverts the deus ex machina.

Its too bad that the series has an idiotic fanbase so obsessed with character romances that they want only a happy ending.

@texasgoldrush @SteamyPotatoes I actually quite liked RDR's ending. Some people seem to consider the ending is just that one screen pulp-style at the end, but I've always thought the ending is the entire gameplay section when taking over as the new character until you finally get redemption (trying to avoid spoilers, lol).

There are of course some people who still don't realize that if you haven't seen the credit sequence yet you haven't actually reached the ending. Some think the ending has happened when you take over the new character for more open world gameplay.

$19.99 - $29.99 all 3 games with DLC in one Download/Disk then I will listen. If that isn't the starting point then don't bother.

This is one I would consider upgrading, especially if they improve the loading times. I just played ME 1 for the first time a few months ago and it's easily one of the longest loading-times games I've played on the PS3.

Bioware's best selling game, and 93 on Metacritic....haters gonna hate.

If ME3 was such a disappointment, why did it not flame out like DA2 did, selling only half as much as DAO? How does ME3 equal ME2 sales in a year?

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Mass Effect 3 was an awesome game but the ending was overall pretty disappointing. I've since coped with it and think it's pretty awesome with the help of fan speculation. The argument is really tiring but I think most people believed they would have more choice into how it ended. I won't spoil it but there weren't many favorable options. It sort of ended like the Lost series. A lot of questions and "how am I supposed to believe this" ending haha.

Also, this soon? It all sounds like great ideas but sort of steps on the legacy a bit. Busting out an old game console and playing on the original controller and format still has it's charm...

I'd like like to see how they get out of the whole "turn everbody into hybrid man/machines, plus have huge mechanical cephalopods who used to want to kill us but are our BFFs now just floating about" scenario without mentioning it?

might be interested, but only if it includes all of the DLC for all three games, which as far as I'm aware the existing Mass Effect Trilogy bundle doesn't.

There is no "original Bioware team", they were destroyed by EA halfway through ME (hence 3), just like they did with Westwood and others. Keeping the fans interested (milking money) with rehashes of last gen games (Halo 1, Fable 1) while someone new tries to tries to write their way out of a hole is pretty standard stuff now. I feel so warm and fuzzy.

I wouldn't mind a framerate patch for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect 2 ran well on the PS3 so how can there be such a huge drop in performance in the third game? I didn't see anything compared to ME2 that could be hoovering up resources. Other recent UE3 games like BioShock Infinite have no issues on PS3 so it can't be that, can it? Come on BioWare. Fix the current game before the next one.

How in the hell could Mass Effect 4 NOT involve what happened in the previous games? They changed the entire course of ALL life in the galaxy.

If they do a prequel you can forget it.

I was just thinking about this yesterday, that if they ported the trilogy WITH ALL (can't emphasize ALL enough) THE DLC INCLUDED it would be worth it.

I would love to have a 1080p/60fps ME series. I have said it for a while that strictly console gamers would be amazed at many last gen games in full 1080p/60fps.

The only way I'd buy a port of the Mass Effect Trilogy (or any Bioware game ever again for that matter) for next-gen consoles is if they overhauled the ending. HOLD THE LINE
