Xbox One PES 2015 Isn't 1080p, But "No One Will Be Able to Tell the Difference," Says Konami

The Xbox One edition of professional soccer game PES 2016 was expected to run in 1080p, but, with the recent release of the game's demo, it's been discovered that it doesn't quite reach that mark.

Konami's Adam Bhatti explained on Twitter that the developer dialed back the resolution slightly in an effort to "keep FPS and game quality high." As a result, "We're going to be just shy of native 1080p," he said.

The PES 2016 demo available now on Xbox One runs at in 1360 x 1080p. Bhatti went on to say that he's pretty sure that "no one will be able to tell the difference" between the Xbox One version and the PlayStation 4 edition, which runs at full 1920 x 1080.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of PES 2016, meanwhile, are currently running at 1280 x 720.

It's possible that the Xbox One edition's resolution may be improved for the game's full launch in September, but Konami has given no indication that this will happen.

Whatever the case, the Xbox One version of PES 2016's near-1080p resolution is a big step up from last year's PES 2015. That game ran at 720p on Xbox One, while the PS4 version ran at 1080p.

PES 2016, which launches September 15 across all platforms, runs on Konami's Fox Engine, the same tech powering the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Competitor FIFA 16, meanwhile, debuts a week later, on September 22.
