The penultimate issue of Xbox World magazine will reportedly reveal new details about Microsoft's new Xbox console, according to CVG.

Get ready for more details about the new Xbox.

The magazine's editor reportedly told the site that the next-generation Xbox will most likely be called "Xbox" instead of "Xbox 720", and will ship with 8GB of RAM and a quad-core processor.

Other details about the new console that will reportedly be revealed by Xbox World include Kinect 2.0, Blu-ray discs, directional audio, a TV output and input, an "innovative" controller, and the possibility of augmented-reality (AR) glasses to be used at a later stage in the new console's life.

Microsoft has not officially confirmed that it is at work on a new console, but speculation about the new Xbox has been circulating for some time. In June, a 56-page document allegedly from Microsoft indicated that the company is planning to launch an Xbox 720 in 2013 at $299. An updated version of the Kinect was to be included, and AR glasses support would be added sometime after launch. The document has since been removed at the behest of Microsoft's legal team.

Earlier this month, Microsoft filed a patent for a new tech system designed to monitor viewers while they watch TV.

@wexorian @mikezer0 Yeah you obviously have no idea what you're talking about it could be hyperthreaded meaning 4 physical cores and 8 cores registering like an i7, it could be a true quad core like the i5 and speed is based on hz not cores... also 8gbs of DDR3 RAM is plenty i dont know of any game you can buy that will use more then maybe 6 and even thats a stretch add in that console games are usually beautifully optimized and that 8gbs is far and away more then enough. the 360 has 512mb of RAM, for you being the computer illiterate you are thats half a gigabyte.

@wexorian "quad core" could refer to any number of different processors: Core i5, Core i7, Tegra 3, etc.

Core i3 is actually just dual core, by the way.

I already leave my Kinect unplugged from the console because I feel MS is watching me through it. And I LOVE the 360 controller... they better not put a stupid touch screen on it like some other gimmick peddlers.

@Suikogaiden Okay. I just read the article about it. I saw this:

"The system then compares the number of viewers visible in the frame with the licensing terms attached to the product; prompting watchers to purchase additional licenses (as required) for each person watching."DAFUQ??!

@Suikogaiden Same thoughts. But i don't think they would monitor us like, really MONITOR our every move as we watch. Maybe just some of our watching habits, statistics and the like.

Is there really any interest in new consoles? I'm asking honestly. No sarcasm meant. No one I know, hardcore console gamer, PC fanboy, or Nintendo hobbyist - these are broad generalization, do no be needlessly offended - has expressed much excitement. Unless these new gadgets pull something truly groundbreaking, I really don't see their launches being as successful as previous ones. Hopefully I'm wrong

@foxrock66 I'm very interested in a new power house console. I want to see all the new techniques devs come up with. I feel I've already seen everything that can be done this generation.

@foxrock66 I am excited for new consoles. New consoles mean better graphics, and that is always a good thing.

@foxrock66 It all depends on price. I don't believe for a second that a console that ships with 8GBs of RAM, a higher end CPU/GPU and Kinect 2.0 will come out of the gate at $299. Unless M$ doesn't ever care about making money from their videogame division because that console would be sold a massive loss, just like this gen at launch. Even with the success M$ has had this gen, they've ultimately lost money. I bet we see a $400 to $500 price point and I also question how open people will be to that but who knows. People want new things and these consoles are way cheaper than something like an IPAD. Personally, I just got a Wii-U and now I am going to build a new PC and wait on the other consoles for a bit. I don't envision the support or the games being all that great, just like last time.

@Stonecutters908 @foxrock66 MS only lost money the first year of the 360. Since then they've been in the black every year. I'm not referring to the entire games division, just the console. Plus they're raking in billions from XBL and accessories. So I don't know where you'd get that they lost money.

@Vodoo @foxrock66 You are both completely wrong.

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/07/15/how-one-of-microsofts-greatest-consumer-successes-/

" The majority of the time is spent in operating red ink, and the cumulative losses of all of those divisions over the years is a whopping $4.1 billion."

Note that 4.1 billion loss is since the original Xbox, but over the last 10 years the videogame segement of M$ has lost 4.1 billion dollars for the company.

@Stonecutters908 For you to say they ultimately "lost money" you'd have to research Microsoft's gaming division from 2006ish, to 2011(12) to confirm that.(They're in the MS annual reports)Then you'd have to discount the cashflows from year 2012/11/10/9 etc. to see if the net investment was worthwhile, which I don't think you have done.

You're right, we'll probably see a 4/500 price point, with $60 controllers, $65/70 games as well... you're right in saying the average consumer has no desire for a new console.

@foxrock66 There's interest solely in that new consoles mean we can move on.Let the new, improved, complex and beautiful engines come.

@foxrock66 I'm pretty excited for new consoles, only because the hardware in today's consoles is just crap. You can get a PC that's just as capable as the X360 for very, very cheap these days.

If this Kinect 2.0 has to do anything with those "play/watch per person licenses" I will be very dissapointed
