Yes, Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has Dungeons, And They Aren't The Same As Breath Of The Wild's

Dungeons confirmed.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will have dungeons, Nintendo has confirmed less than 48 hours before the game releases on May 12. Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi confirmed this in an Ask the Developer interview with Nintendo.

Fujibayashi said dungeons have changed from Breath of the Wild, in some exciting-sounding ways. "They've changed from the previous game. For example, there is a dungeon that connects directly from Hyrule's surface. If you dive from the sky straight into the dungeon, you'll trigger an event. We think this will be a new experience that wasn't possible in the previous game," the director said.

Now Playing: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Everything To Know

Technical director Takuhiro Dohta said dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom are "unique to their respective environments."

"So we think you'll be able to enjoy the wide variety of regional characteristics," Dohta explained.

Art director Satoru Takizawa said the four Divine Beast dungeons in Breath of the Wild had similar designs, but Tears of the Kingdom's dungeons will be more distinct from one another.

"This time, the dungeons are huge and each carry their own regional look and feel, just like traditional The Legend of Zelda games," Takizawa said. "We think they will provide a satisfying challenge for players. They were certainly a challenge to develop! (Laughs)"

Preloading is available now for those who preordered the game digitally. Tears of the Kingdom has already found its way into the hands of some people, so be mindful of spoilers.

In other news, a commercial for Tears of the Kingdom has arrived, and it is extremely heartwarming, wholesome, and nice.

All of Breath of the Wild's "dungeons" combined take about as long to complete as a single run to your favorite fast-food restaurant. I played that game for open world shenanigans because all in all it wasn't a great game, and it was definitely one of the worst Zelda's I've ever played.

I also didn't like the shrines at all (especially on Wii U). The puzzles were a cake walk, the blue location for every freaking shrine got on my nerves.

BUT somehow, I invested hours into it. Something about updating every piece of armor to its maximum at the great fairy felt satisfying. Hopefully Tears of the Kingdom is a more enjoyable experience overall.

Last two or three trailers have really impressed me.

I genuinely felt the lack of traditional dungeons in BotW odd and out of place for a Zelda game despite it being held in such high regard. I'm elated to hear that dungeons have made a return

Oh nice, that was my main gripe with BotW. I imagine they will most likely still not be asdungeony as other zelda games but will be somewhere in between those and the ones from BotW, which I can live with.
