Zack Snyder's Justice League: The Joker Doesn't Say "We Live In A Society"
The internet exploded when the Joker said the memetic words in a trailer, but he doesn't actually say "we live in a society" in the Snyder Cut.
The Joker does not actually say the words "we live in a society" in Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League. The internet exploded in excitement when Jared Leto's Joker uttered the line in a trailer for the Snyder Cut, but unfortunately for all of us, he doesn't actually say it in the final movie.
If you aren't familiar, "we live in a society" is a catchphrase that became associated with the Joker due to an influx of memes starting around 2016. The line was first popularized by the "Gamers Rise Up" style of meme, which originally satirized internet edgelords, but it's now crossed over. It's usually employed these days to poke fun at comic book nerds who say they identify with the Joker.
By the way, Joker does not say "we live in a society" in the Snyder Cut.

The use of the phrase in the trailer prompted a lot of commentary, including from Jared Leto himself in the above tweet. As for the Snyder Cut itself, it releases on March 18. In our Zack Snyder's Justice League review, critic Mason Downey scored the film 3/10 and compared it to "watching paint dry." "The temptation to crown a "winner" between the two versions is obviously there, but doing so largely misses the point," he wrote. "You now have a choice between a slightly shorter uninspired mess of a movie, or a longer one."
