Zampella clears up confusion about “the future of Titanfall” showcased at Austin launch event

There was some confusion today about what new Titanfall information would be revealed at the game’s midnight launch event in Austin on Monday.

Speaking on Larry Hryb’s podcast, Major Nelson Radio, Senior Xbox Evangelist at Microsoft Jeff Rubenstein said that in addition to playing through maps we haven’t seen in the beta, the event, which will start at 11pm EST, will be “showcasing the future of Titanfall.”

“We don’t know what it is,” Hryb said. “They just came to us and said ‘we’re going to announce something.’”

Excited fans immediately took to Twitter, asking Respawn’s Vince Zampella what it means. “For those asking about the 'future of titanfall' announcement, I'm confused as to what that is,” Zampella said this morning. “We did not sell [Titanfall] to [Microsoft].”

An hour later, Zampella said that he talked to Geoff Keighley, and that it looks like the “‘future’ thing is just something fun. Not how I would have described it, but still fun.”

This week, Respawn confirmed that Titanfall would include a $25 season pass containing three packs, which include maps and "other content yet to be determined."

Whatever “the future of Titanfall” might refer to, you’ll be able to find out by watching Xbox’s Twitch channel, which will stream the event live.

new and innovative gameplay and a fresh experience that you get from the game can define next gen games. And Titanfall will show you what is next gen game.

@xeidog69 @Tristan2668 @aci808 I also played the pc version and it was dull and overhyped. The whole dropping in the titan gets dull after the first few games then you're left with a generic shooter that feels similar to CoD jet packs.

Honestly I don't know what all the hate is , Xbox has some great games coming out (2) and PS4 has some great games coming out (3 at the top of my mind). But......i am getting it on pc cause i am with the ps4 a the moment though (I doubt i will get the x1)

@abdullahsaurus The "hate" is just a bunch of loudmouth PS4 idiots who need to grow up. In case you didn't notice, they spend more time on XBO articles than on PS4 games, or so it appears. The fact is, I'm glad I own an XBO at this moment, and not a PS4. They can hate that!

@Blazen702 I am as excited about Titanfall as the next person, but damn you sound ignorant and should shut your pie hole a moment. Alot of FPS fans whom are simply tired of the genre due to nothing new or innovative coming out in some time make assumptions based on the little they have seen.

Assuming everyone thats hating on Titanfall is a Sony Fan is pure ignorance as I thought nothing of the game until I personally Beta Tested it. Now I love the game and will be playing it as soon as the servers are up as I beta tested the PC version and have it paid for, downloaded and ready to go.

I have a PS4, PC, WIIU,3DS,360, and a vita. I would not touch an X1 unless it was substantially cheaper or free.

@Blazen702 Seriously MS is taking a shit all over their consumers and fans with the Xbox 1, and on a regular basis... people who are painfully aware of this are not necessarily PS fanobys... just people with a little common sense and awareness. I had an x360 and I use a Windows OS on my PC... but the Xbox 1 is just a POS. It has some good games coming out, for sure, but nothing that'd make me and many others put up with their awful policies and customer service.

There's not much confusion. Titanfall is way overhyped due to a severe lack of games right now. It's nothing more than CoD clone with robots with 6v6, and barely chugging along at 792p. It's pretty embarrassing that this boring ass game is getting so much attention. The industry really sucks right now. I want an all new Zelda game, based off the tech demo. How about a surprise announcement of an all new Metroid game, with some interesting new gameplay elements. Titanfall has fallen.

@aci808 I don't get it when gamers don't like the game but they check up on the game anyway, reading articles about it. Explains either this game is not for them, like they suck at it, or their console platform can't get it and they are just over zealous about the rave and impressions about TF they have turned it into a hate war. Whatever your motive together with your minions is, it is a futile exercise.

@aci808 I agree, I haven't played Cod since MW2 which is when it got old. After playing the beta for a few hours, I was already bored and since I played BF4, 6v6 is mad boring even with brainless AI as cannon fodder. I'll pick this up in the bargain bin in 2 months when the hype is gone and people realize that this is a CoD reskin

@Tristan2668 @aci808 Not true at all, Most of us whom thought similarly had 5 days worth of enjoyment playing on only 2 maps and barely any of the content unlocked. It was during this beta that the hype went from being Hype and being an awesome solid game that stands on its own two feet. Please note I beta tested the PC version and was blown away by how fresh the game really was. You can get in for a quick sessino or play for hours on end without issue.

Microsoft misinterpret, and start thinking it's something big.
They try to hype it.
Respawn doesn't know why Microsoft is trying to hype it, and tells them to calm down.
