Zelda leads three to Wii VC

Ocarina of Time joined on Virtual Console today by Sega's Bio-Hazard Battle, Hudson's Chew Man Fu.

As advertised, the Nintendo 64 debut of the console maker's seminal adventure series, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, went live on the Wii's Virtual Console this morning. Link's first journey into the third dimension arrived on the downloadable game service with a price tag of 1,000 Wii Points ($10) and a pair of other retro offerings in tow.

The Virtual Console library of Genesis games was bolstered by the side-scrolling shooter Bio-Hazard Battle. Taking control of one of four insectoid "ships," players must blast their way through eight levels swarming with mutated adversaries. Bio-Hazard Battle supports two-player action and is available for 800 Wii Points ($8).

TurboGrafx-16 fans also have a new offering today in the form of Chew Man Fu. In this action puzzle game, gamers must clear each level by pushing four orbs onto like-colored tiles. A variety of obstacles and an evil wizard's henchmen complicate the task, but players can work together with a friend and kick orbs to eliminate enemies or break through walls. Gamers can also go head-to-head with a kickball minigame, or create their own levels in the edit mode. Chew Man Fu is downloadable for 600 Wii Points ($6).

If that doesn't satisfy the Virtual Console sweet tooth, Hudson Entertainment has also announced a pair of TG-16 games it will soon bring to the Virtual Console in North America. Next month, the company will release the gory 1990 action game Splatterhouse and the previous year's first-person catacomb crawler, Double Dungeons.

I have LOZOOT for the N64, GC Master Quest one and the Collector's edition so I dought I'll buy this again. Though its an awesome game I just don't need to buy it on VC since I have it on two different GC disc's.

What the hell is Bio-Hazard Battle and Chew Man Fu? Who's played these games? Brief demos or streamed movies being integrated into the Virtual Console channel would help encourage a lot more purchases.

MrSickVisionz - Yes the Wii plays Gamecube games, accepts gamecube controllers and memory cards, and no you will not see Jet Force Gemini on the VC. Isn't that one strictly Rare's IP?

KingSigy b_wingflyer, since Donkey Kong Country is on VC, then it's possible for Goldeneye. Yeah, Nintendo owns the Donkey Kong liscense, but Rare doesn't own the James Bond liscense. Since EA is the holder of that, Goldeneye is absolutely a possibility for VC. If you still stick by your comment though, then don't ever expect any other Nintendo/Rare collaborations on VC. 1. i believe the reason donkey kong country on VC is because nintendo was able to keep the donkey kong property rights when it sold Rare. 2. you may be right about EA being the holder of the james bond lisence,(though i thought Activision was the holder of that lisence..i may be wrong but thats besides the point) EA(or whoever) can not just go and take other peoples property (Rare's Goldeneye) and put it on the Wii VC. They will have to approach Rare for permission and seeing as Rare is now owned my microsoft they may not allow it.

I'm actually starting to want a Wii for VC alone. If they can get all the Zelda games from the N64, GoldebEye (maybe with online play?!?!??!?), Jet Force Gemini, Sonic CD, Nights, and Burning rangers, i'll definately pick one up when the price drops to $199 Does anyone know if the Wii can play gamecube games?

Super Mario: Secret Of The Seven Stars, Rocket Knight Adventures, Lyalt Wars and then Paper Mario (N64 version) on the virtual console and I'll be happy anything else after that would be a bonus.

Splatterhouse is NOT a 1990 game. It never was. The original Arcade version of Splatterhouse which did see a North American release only to be banned from most Acrades was released in 1988. The Turbo port was released in 1990. GET IT RIGHT GAMESPOT

"Golden Eye anyone? " well maybe not, Nintendo has to get the rights and Microsoft bought Rare, the company that made Golden Eye, in 2002. as much as i would like to see it on VC i dont think it'll happen

I've conquered this game numerous times back late 90's on the N64 and on the Gamecube's two versions, and loved every minute of it. It is no doubt one of my favorites and one of the greatest games of all time, but Nintendo should also consider making room for other great N64 games that haven't been ported at all, such as Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, or even the Turok Dinosaur Hunter games. I'm sure we'll see some if not all of them by some point.

When you run around as young Link without the sword/shield at the very beginning of the game in the N64 original did it make the sound of a jangling sword/shield like it does in the Wii version?
