User Rating: 8.1 | A.S.P. Air Strike Patrol SNES
Air Strike Patrol is a game that made me laugh because of it's parallel to the Gulf War at the time of the game release. In this action flying game you control the 'Coalition' forces fighting against the 'Ziraqis' who are an evil force in the world... But despite this shameless rip off of a war, this is a very fun game that is challenging and exciting. Gameplay: 8/10 The gameplay is fairly simple. The controls are easy to manage and there are no tricky tactics that need to be employed while you are engaging the enemy. While you fly the planes at the same altitude (which is not as exciting) you can control the speed and direction very easily. There are multiple strategies you can take... whether it be to engage in attacking the enemy cities, working towards air supremacy, fighting for points and increasing your payload on your planes, etc... Graphics: 10/10 The graphics are great in this game. The colors are rich and the details are evident. Many SNES games that have a lot of detail and action end up with choppy scrolling. However, the animations on this game are very smooth. I was very impressed by the graphic quality. It enables you to feel a part of the battle rather than just flying through. Sound: 6/10 The sound effects such as shots and explosions are pretty realistic and fill up a lot of the sound making the action feel more intense. The background music is not much to cheer for. But because the game is fast and packed, you may not spend much time noticing it. Reviewer's Tilt: 8/10 I really enjoyed this game because it was well done. It is not very original and the sound could use some work. But because you can win the game using different strategies, this game has replay value. A good game and a keeper.
