Better than Expected.

Once I started to play this game I was amazed as how easy it was to learn. The graphics are great for a launch game, but it gets a bit pixellated at times, but all in all they're really good. The gameplay is a perfect ten here, the Boost looks very realistic and VERY helpful in tight situations especially when you get stuck into a non-moving car. The sound is pretty good for a hand held game, sounds very realistic and the sounds differentiate from car to car. The games has 3 modes of play they're Arcade mode which has standard races, time trial, cop chase(which is really fun.), instant race which gives you a random stage, car, scenario, etc., and Road Challenge which is a set of Championship races that earn you more Stage variations, cars, etc. in arcade mode. Next comes Evolution mode which is the heart of the entire game, in Evo. Mode you do championship races for money to "fix up" your cars and buy new ones, some of the championship challenges offer you new cars or even Upgrade kits for the car you won it with. The garage is where all the "fixing up" happens you get to tune, display, or sell your car here. When you go to the Tuning menu you get a list of parts that you can upgrade your car with, each set of parts have their own section that you can scroll through like Turbo Kits, Exhaust + Air Intake, Engine Block, etc. To win most of the later races you MUST upgrade your car(s) or else the AI players will leave you in the dust. Which leads me to speak about the AI, they are very realistic racers that copy your moves, "bad-ride" you, etc. They are very smart racers. Last in line of gameplay modes is Multi-Card Multiplayer which is self explanatory. Well all in all this game is pretty impressive although it doesn't use the many features the DS has to offer. I would recommend this game to almost anyone, even if they're not a big racing fan. After done playing Asphalt Urban GT you will be left with a craving for more.
