Entering the Crusades is not Indiana Jones or Dr. Jones....
Starting off the review is the setting. Love it! I may not know much about the Crusades, but I do sure love learning about history, and the setting just got me more interested in the subject. The models of the cities made my mouth drop and my eyes open wide. The scale and scope of detail was incredible. To climb on top of(close to) the top of the Dome of the Rock felt kind of weird.
The game play was great, could have been cleaner and flowed a little more seamless, but the action was fast paced, with no real glitches. The variations of missions could have been move then follow, steal, beat up, run and collect flags, repeat.
If the game story was not what it was the score would have been lower and I would have traded it in. The story was enticing, gripping, and a nice shock that grow till the end. While the ending twist was a little confusing to make out that it was the end, since after the credits ended there was an extra bit that could have been in before the credits rolled. The story is what got me to play the game that when i looked at the clock is was 12 am (i gave myself 1 hr till I'd call it a night) and the next thing i know its 3 am, I go to bed, get up eat and go right back to it. Bioshock, Halo(1 and 2) and I think Doom are the only games so far to get me to lose track of time like that.
So if the story was so great and all why the score then. Well the assassinations didn't fell like I was really stocking my prey, killing them when they and everyone lest expected it. I wanted to kill the target, drop the body somewhere or do something crazy with the body to make a statement, like hang the body upside down from the ceiling without a ladder or pulley system. Make the death my own masterpiece. But the game kind of removed that freedom, in that you can't get away with out having to fight every guard in the area, then run for it. Which is fun, but not for a game that is based around assassinations. If I could kill the target and get away with out anyone knowing, I would have felt more accomplished then i did. Other then that little thing, the game was a great buy and a game that i will start over again in the coming months.
