Masterpiece not without problems

User Rating: 9 | Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood PC

A short summary of the AC universe.

In this part, the combat has reached perfection. In addition to realistic movement, parkour, climbing, control, beautiful combat with both hands and a sword and an ax with counterattacks that snatch the enemy's weapon, finish off, you can also continue to easily finish off everyone else, which was not the case in the first and second parts. You can not receive damage. This lasted until the part called Syndicate, then the series turned into a stupid slasher in which you receive damage even on easy difficulty. In Valhalla, this problem was fixed, but the masterpiece was not returned, in terms of beauty, realistic anatomical feeling and endless counterattacks that lay everyone around. In AC 3, it became even better in terms of receiving damage and it became possible to avoid shots, but the graphics and sense of movement deteriorated greatly, and many bugs appeared. And in Unity and Syndicate, the controls became very slow. It turns out that the best controls and combat in the gaming industry were in Brotherhood and Revelations, despite the fact that in the third the character is more controllable in combat. Plus, with Ezio there were interesting catacombs, tombs, a feeling of revealing secrets and very beautiful graphics and clothes with weapons, plus all sorts of Da Vinci products like a pistol and a parachute. There is the ending of Altair, Ezio, etc. But there is no general development of the story, to which all their sacrifices and efforts led. And the series became boring. The suffering that was always present in AC is replaying because of the incomprehensible stealth, hackwork in gameplay and because it is impossible without being constantly attacked when you just move around the world. Especially in the city and you simply cannot start the story mission. Plus Ubisoft began to make bad or ambiguous main characters, it is unpleasant and not useful to play for them, because of which I did not even try AC Mirage. But even with Altair and Ezio there was a problem of empty running around the world, monotony to the point of meticulousness and a strong plot, but weak direction. You received the most interesting weapon before the final credits, and there was no NG+. These minuses only grew with each part. And the graphics became muddy and faded. In Unity it became prettier. In Origins and Odyssey ng+ appeared, and in Valhalla it disappeared again. Origins looks better but requires 2 times less compare to Odyssey and Valhalla - 7 yeas old game. That's why Altair is strong because of its plausibility, and strong characters and ideas with graphics, the trilogy with Ezio also because of the beauty of the graphics, clothes, an interesting plot and the best combat in the gaming industry in Brotherhood and Revelations. The subsequent parts, in addition to the listed disadvantages, the plot and direction became weaker, they became some stories without development and ending for the general history of this universe.

So, this series, which on the one hand is a breakthrough and a masterpiece, but at the same time suffering, waste of time and a feeling of disrespect from the Ubisoft company. It got to the point that they simply started copying outposts and selling them for 100$, so I don’t buy their games anymore. Other companies left such an unpleasant impression less because they don’t have such series that you want to play on the one hand, but on the other hand you feel bad in their games. So I advise you to buy games at good discounts or play by subscription because you are unlikely to want to play this games again. And you also need to understand that only in GoG can you buy a game and not depend on the store. Even if the company stops supporting the game or the store closes, you will still have the game if you download the client. And these are PC games, so there are more options for voice acting in your language, saves, mods and 4k 60fps, it's not on consoles, it's rare. Even in games from 20 years ago. You can also play on a big TV remotely with gamepads. If Steam etc. closes you lose all the games you bought, and the PS5 changes to PS6 etc. and the games you bought become a thing of the past. So why buy them and for such a lot of money?

It would be best to make a balanced mix control and combat of Revelations and Odyssey with corrected dodging and parrying and the ability to parry ranged attacks like in Valhalla, so that it would be responsive like Odyssey, but anatomically realistic like Brotherhood and Revelations.

It is important to note once again, if I did it weakly - all these games are easy, but because of bugs and hackwork you have to replay a lot and spend time moving around the map, looking for entrances, etc., in addition to the monotony. I only paid tribute to the masterpiece moments and combat.

One more addition -

There are little things that greatly affect how much you like the game, for example, Altair's stance, even in his normal state - he stands like a human, a fighter, and in Valhalla, for example, Eivor and other characters walk and stand like gorillas (not cool gorillas but ridiculous), it makes you sick, it's not interesting to play as fools, it's only interesting for children and doesn't fit this game. And there are many such examples, in behavior, control, graphics, etc. In general, the hackwork began with the very first assassin, monotony, empty running around, NPCs talk like gifs, the graphics are not homogeneous, one stone is normal, another is murky or has sharp corners like paper cut with scissors, even in the newest games 2024, they are terrible in places, some texture can stick out on clothes, etc. You immediately want to downgrade such a game and return half the money for disrespect. The ugliest games are AC 3,4,5 (rogue) and the controls are also very cheap, although fast.
