Bigger, Better, More Interesting and so much more to do. This is how a sequel should be made. A Masterpiece.
Then I heard there was a sequel. I was excited but a little bit wary of getting the game. There was a lot to improve on. I did eventually buy the game and I was absolutely blown away. The game is set in renaissance Italy (being 1/2 Italian that was win win!) and tells the story of a mischievous boy called Ezio. He is immediately likable. At the start of the game he gets into a little fight with the rival family gang called the pazzi. No assassin robes yet. After destroying their feeble resistance Ezio searches the bodies for money.
Yes. Money. There is now an economy in the game. It can be used for everything from treasure maps to armor and even changing your preset weapons of which there are many. Poison, Knives, Daggers, Hammers, Maces and, of course, the trademark hidden blades. Thats not a typo. I said blades. There is now a hidden blade on each of Ezios hands for dealing with two pesky guards in one go.
The best part of all these weapons is that you don't need to use them. Ezio can beat a man with his bare hands then headbutt him before kicking him in the face, turning round to disarm another guards axe and stick it right back in his head. Brilliant.
The story around Ezio's journey to becoming an assassin is a gripping and interesting one involving revenge, betrayal and, you guessed it, plenty of assassinations. The story is a lot more personal this time round as Ezio himself has a score to settle. This makes you really fond of Ezio as a normal person being flung into the world of an assassin, and altogether makes for a more enjoyable story. Which I'll let you find out about.
The freerunning in assassins creed 2 is a lot faster than it's predecessor and the animation is the best I've seen in any game to date, period. The graphics themselves are brilliant considering the open-world nature of the game.
All in all Assassins Creed 2 is an incredible journey. I can't imagine how Ubisoft could make it any better than what it is. It is classy, imaginative, beautiful, compelling and a heck of a lot of fun. BUY THIS GAME
