Great gameplay, broken engine. Choppy graphics, 0.5% difference between max and min settings. WTH?

I won't talk about the gameplay because it is pure awesomeness. Everyone that has played AC1 and knows about its flaws: they're gone. It's a much more streamlined and easy to play (in tech terms) game.
This is where it hits its major snag. The game's engine is unbelievably unoptimized. Running on a card that can boost Crysis on max with 2xAA @1680x1050, namely the Radeon 5850, this baby chops the woods with 19-20 fps in some areas. Funny thing is, when you look to the sky (even with buildings in view), the fps skyrockets to my vsynced 60. I don't know if this is a driver error, or an engine flaw, but it is very annoying when the game stutters right when I need to counter-attack. I'll wait for the 10.3 drivers, but my hopes are not very high. That is why my score is lower. If it weren't for this technical breakdown, the game would get a 10/10, no matter the DRM.

If you want to play it, rent first and see if you can live with the low fps.
