AC series are getting too Political.

User Rating: 4 | Assassin's Creed Rogue PC

I like that the Assassin's Creed series uphold true historical figures and events as main part of the game's structure. We learn and explore while we enjoy fun gaming activities, intrigues, suspense and adventure.

But for a while now, after AC4 Black Flag, AC became too much about "a la lettre" political intrigues. And unfortunately the actions and gaming elements did not enough to counter balance properly this new approach.

In result, AC Rogue is just boring. Assassinations mechanics, parcours, the whole action sequences got old fast. Even the ship and sea brawls don't offer anything new or thrilling.

The protagonist is uninteresting, and do not promise any upcoming connection when you start to play the game. You don't like the guy and you know you won't like him.

And because of that, the french attitude of the game becomes irritating. When the game is fun as Black Flag, ok, you can tolerate the French talks and jokes. But when the game doesn't deliver this same attitude becomes alienating and annoying.

Assassin's Creed was at its peak with Assassin's Creed 2 when we were learning about the Templars, the Assassins, and the Apple of Eden.

After Enzio, the series couldn't catch a new and fresh perspective and instead when to a slow and painful downfall.

I wouldn't recommend AC Rogue even to hardcore AC fans.
