Not entirely original but still a blast to play

User Rating: 8.2 | Assault Heroes X360
We’ve seen this style of game time-and-time again, it is a classic take on the genre and really, this game doesn’t add much to it, but damn is it fun. You take control of a small car and using an array of weapons and you pummel your enemies in a wild shootout. The game adds depth by using power ups on your three main weapons each of which adds a new look to your weapons as well as more power and speed. The highest power up of the weapon really feels and looks better which can be very satisfying to use. They also have come up with a smart system where if your vessel is damaged, you are not, and it will regenerate in a few seconds which makes the game have a little more originality. Assault Heroes should be noted as being a rather short title, at only 30-45 minuets in length, but it does have high replayability factor. Playing online or playing with a friend on the same system can be very easy and can make the game much more enjoyable. The game looks solid and is one of the first arcade games on XLA to use a 3d game engine. I really feel they did an excellent job tuning this title and adding that extra bit of polish that it really needed. Coming in at 800 MS points ($10), this exclusive title for Xbox Live Arcade is a must purchase.
