A slightly cliché title that never gets old, but does get dull.
The graphics - for gameboy colour - are quite good actually, so no complaints in that department. You pilot a ship, which you can choose from a short list of different kinds: a oval shaped one, a cone shaped one ext. Now don't get confused, unlike the original, these ships are not literally just shapes! In the GBC version of Asteroids the ships look like actual ships, I was merely describing the basic shape. Before I move on I would like to also point out that you can play the original version of Asteroids as a hidden feature (if you prefer the nostalgic approach) I might also mention the sounds of the game are quite nice.
The gameplay is quite linear, as in you start out easy and as always progress slowly yet surely to much harder levels. Asteroids is really user-friendly and will allow the beginners and the experts to ease into the harder levels with no frustration on the more experienced players part.
Control by moving the move pads, shoot by pressing buttons. It is as basic, yet classic as that to play Asteroids. But beware, unlike old-school Asteroids, there are variations of the actual Asteroids. Some require more hits to break up and others are indestructible. Some even regenerate! you have been warned.
But I must conclude saying that no matter how you tweak Asteroids, it is still old and as such gets a little dull. You may find yourself getting pretty bored pretty fast and I would not blame you. The game is quite repetitive and at times frustratingly long.
