It's Not a Game

User Rating: 1 | Asteroids & Deluxe X360
*sigh* Yet again, another Atari "classic" comes to the XBLA, and yet again, fails miserably in It's attempt to revitalise a tired game.

There are two game modes in Asteroids & Asteroids Deluxe, and I just mentioned them in this sentence. As you can imagine Asteroids is the old classic Black and White space shooter, while the Deluxe version is a slightly updated more colourful one.

The graphics of the updated mode look awful, and nothing more than a flash game that anyone could have made and put on the website Newgrounds for people to play for free, but instead It's found here in this waste of a game.

The gameplay is simple and identical in both modes; you rotate your ship (which looks like a mouse cursor) around and around, shooting asteroids as they hurl towards you, with the occasional enemy ship popping by to ruin your fun. With the press of the trigger button, you can boost your little ship to another point of the geometry (a fairly useless move) to avoid being hit, but usually ends up doing more bad than good, as you'll often find yourself hurling into another nearby asteroid.

In my humble and unbiased opinion, this game really isn't worth the price tag or for that matter, your time. Yet another shabby and feeble attempt to "revitalise" a tired game has been ruined once again by the people at Atari, and should never have even been made. Next time Atari, if you bring a game as old and dated as this one to the Arcade with absolutely no different gameplay elements or new content, at least give it a price tag worth It's content, let's say something like... ZERO Microsoft points?

Thanks for taking the time to read my review, hope it was helpful.
