Simple fighting controls and a terrific story.

The gameboy advance is a dying system but if you have one you might as well play this and have some fun with it before you move onto ds games. This game is amazing considering that beat em up licensed games are usually craptacular; the game boosts a pretty interesting cast of characters and fantastic storyline to supplement the action.

The gameplay is a fantastic feature, but one of my gripes with this game was that a lot of the enemies excluding the bosses were essentially the same and i'm not just talking about color swapped characters (even though there are a lot of them), i'm also talking about the fact that all the regular enemies have a normal melee attack or a slow ranged. There are some subtle differences but the method you're going to use to kill them will be virtually the same. Anyways gripes aside, let me just say that going through the levels will be fun, albeit very challenging at later levels. As you do more damage, your special bar will charge up allowing you to use special attacks like a dashing attack, a machine gun attack that fire at everything and a arm cannon which is probably going to be your most best weapon for situation where you need a lot of firepower. Levels are pretty linear and you can find a few hidden characters here and there but it's going to be the boss battles that will be the exciting portion of the game. The bosses are very different and very strong and most likely you will die a lot from them before you get the hang of it. Sometimes it gets frustrating but don't give up beating them will be worth it when you can sometimes collect omega points to boost your weapons and skills and advance in the story.

The story is different from the Anime but that's not going to be an issue, it's fun to read in it's own right. The plot twists in this game are going to be pretty shocking and even for a game based on a very old anime, it's characters are still surprisingly strong and developed, more so in fact that in most generic beat em up games.

What about the sound you ask? hm... what about the sound... I forgot, it wasn't very memorable to me, i had fun playing to it in game but i don't feel any sudden urges to find the mp3 files for the game. Anyways if the sound gets boring just turn on your own music, no duh huh?

This game is going to last you for a while and it's designed pretty well to be played in either short or long bursts. Each scene can be revisited after completing the game on normal mode, (don't be fooled, the story isn't done with by a long shot) After beating the enemies on a level you'll get a checkpoint that you'll return to in the event that you die with full health.

Fun, fun, fun game. Not for everyone though, if you don't feel like investing a of time trying to master the mechanics of this game (namely jet dodging) and wandering around trying to find clues to solve the plot (I suggest u take notes during dialogue if you don't want to backtrack aimlessly as i did). Yeah did i mention it's a hard game, yeah your butt is going to be handed to you many times. Enjoy!
