One of the better looking and sounding Atari 2600 games.

User Rating: 8.2 | Atlantis 2600
In Atlantis you must protect your city (Atlantis) from an onslaught of ships. In order to do this your have three canons at your disposal. One that shoots straight up, is positioned in the middle, and two on either side of the screen that shoot at an angle across the screen. Below these guns is the city you must protect.

At the start of the game; and each proceeding attack wave, ships will fly across the top of the screen, at each pass they drop down a level of altitude. At the lowest altitude the ships will fire on your cities. So the object is to destroy the ships before this happens. After you successfully defend each wave the following waves will come at you a bit faster. It becomes quite intense to defend your cities and your beloved canons.

The graphics are some of the greatest you will find on the Atari, the ships look above average and the buildings of the cities are outstanding. The sound is fantastic. If you get this game make sure you crank up the volume because this game has some of the best sounds of the era. It just makes the game more intense and powerful.

It's an easy game to pick up and play. Press the button and the center gun fires. Press left or right on the joystick and the corresponding side gun fires. Just don't rely to heavy on the center gun or you wont last to long, especially as the ships become increasingly faster.

Overall this is one of the greats of the Atari, easy to pick up a blast to play; Oh and make sure you turn up volume.
