Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt! is a revolutionary game (the first game with voices) but it falls short.

In Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt! for Genesis, you play a ecological-loving possum named Awesome Possum (think a Steve Irwin-esque possum, without the Aussie -ness) as he kicks Dr. Machino (a Robotnik ripoff, strangely from the team that brought you the blue blur himself) in the butt. Watch with awe as he stops pollution! Be astounded by his courage to leap over oil spills! But be afraid, be very afraid.....this game was the first game ever to have a voice cast, but basically it goes like this:
Awesome Possum: I'm awesome!
Dr. Machino: You're not so awesome!
So, the game is a Sonic ripoff, the characters are Sonic ripoffs, but still, the game does have a ton of humor that seems like it was taken from the early Archie Sonic comics (which I collect) which in fact, were hilarious until fairly recently. The game is colorful and interesting, but ecologically friendly anthropomorphic possums are taking it a bit far.
