I strongly stand behind this statement. The simplicity of the gameplay makes it easy for anyone to pick up but keeps you coming back for more!
The batting just requires a good eye and timing. You have the option to bunt or angle your hits with partial swings giving you the option and flexibility on offense. The pitching allows you to control speed, type of pitch, and direction. There is also stamina for your pitchers so you can get tactical and throw relievers and closers. The fielding may take the most time to get used to, but it's designed very well. You can dive and jump with your players so it puts more abilities in your hands.
This game also has some pretty good graphics and is partially known for its animation sequences. Play at the plate? Grand slam? Stolen base? They're there. And with pink rabbit umpires making the calls! There are a couple different home run animations that throws in some good variety. Cameos included!
Bad News Baseball also allows you to play a season of sorts if you are playing alone. Each team you beat is eliminated from selection but too many losses and you have to start over. For playing a friend, choosing your favorite team and going at it is a little more personal and gets some rivalry going!! There is also an All Star game the puts the best in the game up against each other. This is a great feature for those who want to play with and against the best-of-the-best.
To accompany the game is it's catchy music. From the opening screen, to the team selection, actual gameplay, and even the in-between inning cut scene will have you singing along during and after the game!

I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys sports games in general, and especially to those who enjoy a great throwback game. I've gone through many recent baseball releases and nothing can stand up to this. Sure, it doesn't have real player and team names but you will quickly get to know and love them! The games you play can fly by quick but are very addictive! Find this classic, invite a friend, and start playing! You will not be disappointed!
