This is by far the best platformer of all time.

This is it, and always will be the best platformer ever. The game at first was written off as another Mario clone, and not a soul knew if Rare could make a 3-D platformer. This was the game that launched Rare into the spotlight of one of the best game developers ever, not Goldeneye, not Perfect Dark, not DKC. The game, first of all, looks great, with well detailed textures and a great looking and detailed Banjo model. The sound is also great, with creepy tones in the over world and great noise muffling underwater. The real reason this is the best platformer ever is the worlds you will explore. This game follows only a few level clisches(snow level, desert level, haunted house), but it manages to rework these used up ideas into something totally new and fun to explore(the haunted house also has an almost satanic chapel and a creepy hedge maze). If you're not in a clisched level, it's something totally new and interesting to explore like a dirty sewer, and smelly swamp, a time lapsed forest, and a salty harbor. This game also has one of the most sprawling imaginable overworlds that actually takes place in a network of sprawling caves you can easily lose yourself in. And if the dreariness has you down, you can always venture in a beautiful country side outside the network. This game is large and it manages to stay fun and fresh throughout the whole game which will take veterens at least 15 hours to blaze through, and that's without stopping to find secrets and exploring everything has to offer. Buy this game, if you don't have an N64, buy one too. This game is to good to pass up.
