A rare sequel that surpasses the original.
User Rating: 10 | Banjo to Kazooie no Daibouken 2 N64
I am not fond of sequels. Most sequels pale in comparison to the originals on which they're based. It is therefore with a surprised and happy heart that I can easily say that Banjo-Tooie actually surpasses Banjo-Kazooie in almost every way. Chronologically Banjo-Tooie starts some months after Banjo-Kazooie ended. This is emphasized in the game by allowing Banjo to start the game with all the moves that he learned in the first game. You are quickly involved in a rescue mission to save the land from Grunty's new device. As soon as you start your mission it becomes clear that you are going to need to learn even more new moves to reach Jiggies and Jingos. Mumbo Jumbo no longer performs shape chaining spells, but instead will help Banjo by becoming a playable character that can cast multiple spells. Another new character, Humba Wumba, will now help Banjo to change shapes to perform special tasks. Every part of this game is better than the original. More moves, larger levels, more characters. There are only 2 small things about Banjo-Tooie that I didn't like. There was one Spell Page I couldn't get because there was a race that was so difficult I couldn't complete it. The other thing I didn't like was that stopped having Grunty speaking in rhymes. I though that was a cute touch in the first game. This game is a must for anyone who enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie, and I highly recommend it for anyone who liked Mario 64 or games of that type.
