Solid fishing game

User Rating: 8.9 | Super Black Bass 2 SNES
This was the first video game I ever purchased with my own money when I was about 11, so I suppose this has some nostalgic value, but bear with me.

For a 16 bit game, this is a pretty good fishing simulation. It has solid graphics, hidden lures on each of the different lakes, and a variety of fish species. It will keep track of your "official" top weights (the ones that count at the weigh in) and your "unofficial" (the 'estimated' weight after the catch). This provides some replay value, since once you beat the game, your only reward is that your player wears a flower necklace. The fights are very entertaining, and when you hook one of the lunkers, you really feel like you've got the big one, as it can be pretty difficult to drag one of them in. The environment sounds in some of the locales (especially in the stumps areas) can get a little irritating, but let's face it, it's just the SNES, so you can't complain too much about that.

I have spent way more time on this game than I really ever should have, but like I said, I bought it with my own money, so it had extra value for me. But objectively, it's still a very good game. I recommend it.
