Batman almost completely realized...

This is one of those rare gems of video games. It is a great game that has you wanting to complete it straight through. The game almost completely gets the you are Batman feeling down. It really does make you feel as if you stepped into the dark knights shoes. That to me was the best quality of many great qualities. It emphasizes stealthy gameplay. It has what it calls detective mode that really is a good mechanic. Allowing you to get a good assessment of you current situation whether it be opposition placement , opposition threat level or interactive environment. The only downside to it is that its so helpful you may not notice that you have it on most of the time. That in turn takes away from all the great visuals and detail put into them as you can't see it in detective mode. The combat while not terriblely complex to use is at times like a great opera of violence , in the right hands you can string together devastating room clearing combos. It is what the game calls free flow combat and it does feel like that. There are also a good amount of Batman's gadgets for you to use throughout the game. The gadgets are used in a few ways like combat , movement , and exploration for hidden items. The collectibles for me were lots of fun. It wasn't that tedious affair that some games turn into. I actually wanted to seek out everything that the game had hidden in the levels. I was unhappy with the final boss fight ass it didn't feel like it capped off the experience of the rest of the game very well. At the end of th day all this gushing for this game amounts to my recommendation that if you like Batman , exploration , and want a well polished game . Pick up Batman : Arkham Asylum it won't dissappoint.
