What?! A good batman game?! OMG!

Personally I expected this game to fail horribly, seeing how super hero games tend to promise a lot and fall flat on their faces. However, I am glad I was wronged.

This game is superb. Once you press the button to start the game, you're in the dark knight's world from beginning to end. And it's a hell of a world full of villains, gadgetry, and a heck of a lot of butt kicking. The story in this game is wonderfully crafted. The development was well-paced and keeps you interested from start to finish. The voice acting is superb. Scenery, sounds, and music all add to enhance a great atmosphere. Gameplay, itself, is nothing short of utter fun. Yes it's very linear, with press one button to attack, one to counter, and grab, etc. But with good timing, you'll be performing crazy chain combos and amazing feats only the dark knight, himself, is capable of performing. Beyond the combat, you have yourself an arsenal of gadgets at your disposal. Creep around undetected and send your enemies into a deep sleep. Or swing around and hang from a gargoyle and leave your enemies hanging with an inverted take-down. They're just some of the many possibilities. Did I mention the riddles? Oh why yes... the Riddler's riddles. They range from simple to "omg wtf is he talking about" difficult. It puts your brain to the test and further glue you to that couch longer.

Despite all the things the game has going for it, there are a few disappointments. The boss fights aren't as thrilling as one would hope it to be. They're relatively easy, and I hate to say it... uncreative. I just wished they were more of a challenge. Another disappointment is not being able to battle with some bosses you encounter. Sure you see Clay Face, but never got a chance to fight him. Aside from solving the Riddler's riddle, the mastermind, himself, never even showed him face. There's very replay values. Sure you can replay the story on a more difficult setting, or do the challenges, but I personally prefer something different. I'll leave you to decide this part. Nevertheless, these are only minor set-backs.

So what's the conclusion on this title? Great story, fun game play, and terrific atmosphere makes for a beautifully crafted game. If there's any game that makes you feel like the bat, it's this one. This is highly recommended for any Batman fans... heck, even if you're not, just give it a try, you'll be doing yourself a favor.
