I havn't been this pleasantly surprised with a game in a while! Arkham Asylum is a guilty pleasure..

I've only played several hours of this game and it's more than enough to claim that it's the best comic book based game to date. The only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that it all takes place at the Asylum which pretty much guarantees the setting will remain the same throughout the game. But The Asylum is detailed and vibrant at times making it the perfect 'madhouse' for Joker. The story could easily make for a good movie or at least part of a movie and the characters are original and believable. The hand to hand combat is truly innovative and many action games in the future will be studying this game if they want to get it right. It is fluent and satisfying. you can literally beat up twenty thugs without getting hit once and giving the illusion that the enemies aren't just waiting their turn but attacking when they get a chance which is your chance to pull off some amazing combos. Gadgets are great, useful and easy to use and stealth is as good as any out there. Graphics are gorgeous and sound is great as well. This is a definite buy for anyone who finally wants to be satisfied with a great action game. Think of taking the best traits from MGS, Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell(and no other game comes to mind that matches the combat) and you've got Batman: Arkham Asylum..
