Welcome to the Funhouse Mwahaha (Surprisingly good game though a bit easy, short and repetitive)
The main story allows you to explore all of Arkham Island and the buildings using all of bats gadgets and ofcourse fight the bad guys. The art style is pretty cool and more like a comic book than real life and the graphics are great with lighting and shadows.
Fights can be quite fun for as you hit one button Bats will continuously hit his foes with a plethora of moves(and trust me, you can end up fighting 20+ guys, but get hit and the combo breaks. The challenge is not surviving(which is easy) but chaining up a perfect number of moves to make a combo and it all ends with a satisfying slow mo hit.Later on with more tougher enemies more strategies are required and Bats will face his supervillians and mutants as bosses, but Bats will beat up plenty. Goons with guns will come up and guns are seriously dangerous here so the game turns into Metal Gear with a few twists, and you'll have to use the environment, cunning and gadgets to defeat foes All quite fun as you watch enemies get scared as you pick them off one by one and use detective vision to help you find them, problem is this can turn repetitive as most rooms end up being a bit the same with gargoyles everywhere to use to your advantage, enemies are predictable and they don't even really look for batman and his hiding spots and you'll make a lot of noise and they wont here it(when say opening a vent for example).Fights also have only 1 attack button so it can get a bit monotonous. Thankfully exploring the Island and getting to your objectives is fun and because Batman moves very fluidly thanks to good controls. There's also riddles to solve by checking out the environment and trust me they can be a challenge and they are interesting and fun. They're also a way to introduce you to some of Batmans old nemesis' that didn't make it here and they also unlock extras. You'll also gain experience points as you take care of goons and objectives and they can be spent on upgrades.
The music is well done, orchesstra that acts as an ambience and shifts depending on the situation. Voice work is also ok and sometimes great, though some characters sound lifeless, still Joker steals the show here, with his many Jokes through the TV and radios, you can hear him everywhere around the Island
This added with challenges which have you replying certain scenarios with a few new rules can give off some replayability. The only other problems are that bosses too easy and end up becoming the same monster all the time(though Poison Ivy was hard), it's not that long which is sad and you can get a bit stuck finding your way around the island.Batman is also a bit too perfect and doesn't really have the humanity in him(he's mostly expressionless). Overall though this game can be fun and it looks as if the developers did try though it's a little short and easy and can get monotonous but for what it's worth it is the best Bat game I've ever played and there's some cool new ideas that help split it from the crowd. Can't wait for a sequel, please let's use the Batmobile!!!
