Great Game needs a little polish

User Rating: 8.5 | Batman: Arkham City PC
I really liked the first game and have been waiting for Rock Steady's followup and I must say I haven't been disappointed. the game mechanics are wonderful and they didn't cripple the detective mode like I read about. The list of baddies and returns is enormous and I like the size of Arkham city. The addition of Catwoman and DLC was also a nice change of pace even though the tactics were generally the same just different animations. That being said, it needs a little spit and polish. The game's a little buggy and the initial load screens are rather long. The game has crashed a couple of times and I have gotten stuck in the game geometry. There could have been a little more info on some of the bat tools (specifically the batclaw and how to get out of it once you start pulling the rafts) The only way i found to do the was to crouch???? The sustained glide mechanic isn't very well explained as far as sustaining it and I have basically avoided using it and just kept grappling which wasn't a showstopper but it's funny how the little quirks stand out so much because the rest of it IS so polished. maybe a patch to optimize and fix some of the flaws (Directx 11 anyone) will make this a game of the year contender but it's going to be tough with all the other AAA titles out there. I hope this comes off in a positive light as I really do like the game and encourage anyone to by it. I also hope they eventually put a patch out that strips the god awful DRM SECUROM out of the game as I suspect that is what is making it buggy.
