Pros:
- Rocksteady's respect for the "Batman" lineage remains just as strong here.
- Solid writing that fittingly "concludes" the "Arkham" saga (I say "concludes" in air quotes because there's a new Arkham game coming this year in "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League")
- The same wonderful character work we've come to expect from this series.
- Phenomenal voice acting from Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, as always.
- Stunning visual showcase of what eighth-generation consoles would be capable of.
- Combat is some of the best and most satisfying that it's ever been.
- The open world is even better here than it was before.
- I actually had quite a bit of fun with the Batmobile and thought it was a nice addition that added variation to the gameplay.
- Would you look at that? The boss fights were actually pretty good this time!
- The final gameplay sequence? One of the best things the "Arkham" series has ever done.
Cons:
- Admittedly, the Batmobile sections did take a bit of getting used to.
Consensus: So ends my journey with the "Batman: Arkham" series until "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" comes out (I never reviewed "Origins" because I just wasn't having enough fun with it to keep playing it), and boy, did this throw me for a curve. I've enjoyed this series up to this point, but I hadn't been able to find a 10/10 entry in it that I really loved as one of my favorite games ever. Well, low and behold; yes, "Batman: Arkham Knight" is my favorite in the series. For me, I think this one just evolved the gameplay in some of the best and most interesting ways and had some of my personal favorite moments across the entire series. It's a fantastic game that brings Batman's story in the "Arkham" series to a satisfying conclusion...well, unless "Suicide Squad" has something to say about that later this year.
Final rating: 10 out of 10 "Fantastic"
