Batman has to be in the top 5 Movie-based games. Well better than X-men

User Rating: 8.4 | Batman Begins PS2
Batman Begins. Well the film was a big success dark, scary and revealed Batman’s roots. But is the game as good as the film. Well, films turned into games turn out… to be honest… not very good. But this is not the case Batman Begins is a good game. And is up there with the LOTR video game series. The story follows the exploits of the film. With a man named Bruce Wayne. His parents killed in a back alley of Gotham. Now his gone into the Underworld of crime to discover the criminal mind. Though on his quests a man called Dugard picks him up. Dugard then introduces Bruce to the League Of Shadows. A group of ninjas who aim it is to diminish crime through the world. Though Bruce doesn’t see eye-to-eye with The League Of Shadows ways. So he escapes (using force). Then he wants to save Gotham from the criminals. So the adventure begins. The game play is a third person beat-em-up more commonly known as fighting style. The key aspect of this game is to use fear as a weapon. This renders the enemy useless. They drop there weapons and they are easy to kill. You also have reputation. This works hand-in-hand with fear. Creating fear makes your reputation go up. Also doing special things. Using your environment is the most common thing to do. This includes: Breaking scaffolding supports, explosions and trapping people. There is also area fear. This is the current fear in the area, if its up to the top then the enemy are scared witless, if down near the bottom they just cautious. Batman also has a variety of moves that he can perform, I’ll start with the fighting moves. Batman obviously is a ninja, so he has some kick ass moves. He has the standard punch and kick movements though in mid combat you can push circle, this enables you to: finish enemies, jump attacks, defence breaks and a very cool vault attack, you can also use smoke grenades and use bats to scare your enemies to make them weak. You can grab and enemy to interrogate fir useful info. Then there are his movements, all these are standard but the one thing is the gadgets. You have the Bat-a-marang, this lets you get easy access to areas high up, or creates fear in enemy, there is a hacker gadget which hacks into control panels. Though, one of the best moments in the games are the rides in the Bat mobile. This is a high speed Tank-Ferrari that has weapons. You get reputation for knocking police and enemies of the street. The graphics of the environment are supreme. Light shining through the floorboards and the city looks amazing. The characters are detailed, its hard to catch fear in animation but the team at EA have pulled it off. With enemies expressions being a treat. The explosions are average. What makes it really good is the cut-scenes are out-takes from the film. The sound is most impressive. I’ll start of with that all of the actors from the film are there: Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Michael Caine all of them are there. The enemies squealing in fear is good though the game uses vibrations well for the enemies heartbeat. Also the added bonus of Batman’s nice sweet voice really makes the sound of interrogation fun. Overall Batman is a one-of-a-kind good hero game. With fun game play, some fast driving through Gotham, great environments from Gotham to The League Of Shadows, the voice actors from the film. All this makes a great game and worth being put in your PS2 rack.
